This bookwas submitted as a thesis with the title of "The Expansion of Trade Mark Protecüon under Article 5 (l) (a) of the European Trade Mark Directive and Its Impact on Parallel Importation" to the University of Manchester for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the School of Law, the Faculty of Humanities. it was found successful by the examiners Prof. Norma Dawson and Hazel Carty and I was awarded the Ph.D. on February2015.

This book examines the recent developments in the European trade mark rights and its impact on the European Exhaustion doctrine. The European trade mark law is governed by the Trade Mark Directive to approximate the laws of the Member States of the European Union relat-ing to trade marks (Directive 2008/95/Ec of the european Parlıament and of the council of 22 October 2008). This book focuses on the developments of trade mark rights given under Ar¬ticle 5(l) (a) of the Trade Mark Directive and its impact on the exhaus-tion of trade mark rights within the European Economic Area which is regulated under Article 7 of the Trade Mark Directive.
